Sophie Collier began working with film & video in the year 2000, and working with moving image has been central to her studio practice ever since. She specialised in Film & Performance whilst at the Ruskin, Oxford University, where she received an excellent education in film & video production, and learned a huge amount from her time spent in the Oxford University Media Production Unit. Which was a considerable amount of time. Pretty much most of her time. More recently, she studied Sculpture & Moving Image at the Royal College of Art, London, graduating in 2015.
Collier has produced in excess of 100 titles, a mix of narrative films, installation work, filmed performances and other time-based moving image. She enjoys working in a wide range of media and scales, her work varying from simple, quick works shot on eg. a phone, to more elaborate, higher spec fully crewed productions. Her work is screened internationally, both as gallery or site specific installation, and also online platforms and via social media. She is an experienced director, screen writer, cinematographer, performer and editor, mostly having learned on the job, either in her own productions or working with or for others.
